The Brantley Family

Our current Pastor, the Reverend Calbert R. Brantley, is a man after ‘God’s own heart.’  He came to St. Matthew Baptist Church in July 2019 after serving as Pastor of Antioch Baptist Church in Pineland, SC for 11 years; planting a church in the New York City suburb of North Plainfield, NJ for 2 years; and serving as Pastor of Zion Baptist Church in Waterbury, CT for 7 years.  His leadership always surpasses the four walls of the church building and reaches into his community.  Pastor Brantley is asked to minister at revivals, services, conferences, and trainings all over the country.

With a practical, yet insightful and charismatic preaching style, he is dedicated to spreading the good news of the Gospel to everyone he meets. Pastor Brantley has a tremendous passion for God’s Word coupled with a love for God’s people. He has a contagious spirit of generosity that overflows throughout every facet of his ministry.

Pastor Brantley received his Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Media from Morris College in Sumter, SC and he earned a Master of Divinity degree with a concentration in Pastoral Care from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Seminary (ITC) in Atlanta, GA.

Pastor Brantley has been married to his wife, Kyla for 13 years and they are the proud parents of one daughter, Candace Renee.
